Memory. Feeling. Place.

Nostalgia embodied in clay

My work jumps between worlds. Past and present. Digital and physical. Engineered and hand-crafted.

As a former mechanical engineer, I merge my expertise in digital fabrication with the warmth and materiality of hand pressed clay. Having grown up in the varied terrains of California - next to the beach and in the shadows of mountains - landscapes and place are prevalent in my practice. I explore how identity is shaped by place, nostalgia, memory and feeling. I see an ongoing shift within ceramic craft - a push to merge with different technologies. I position my work firmly in this conversation while maintaining a commitment to the subtleties of handmade objects.

I am a Los Angeles born, London based ceramic artist. I graduated from the University of Michigan with a BSE in Mechanical Engineering and Minor in Art/Design. As an engineer I’ve worked for companies like Autodesk, Ford, Tesla, and Google while always feeding my passion for ceramics on the side.

In 2024 I decided to move to the UK for an MA in Ceramics and
Glass at the Royal College of Art. Eight weeks into the program I had a traumatic cycling accident which left me unable to physically make for 6 months. This incident forced me out of the studio but led me back to a place I was familiar; in front of my computer making forms digitally. Once recovered and back in the studio I took these forms into clay which is now the technical basis of my practice.
